A recursive procedure for ARMA modeling
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper presents a two-part fast recursive algorithm for ARMA modeling. The algorithm first obtains estimates of the p autoregressive coefficients from a set of p extended Yule-Walker equations. An exact recursive lattice algorithm for this estimator is then derived. The 4 + 1 numerator spectrum coefficients are then obtained by using one of the output data sequences of this lattice algorithm. The complete recursive algorithm is fast in the sense that O (p + q) computations are required for each update. Moreover, an exponential forgetting factor is incorporated to facilitate tracking of time variations in the time series.

Abstract: Easily computable recursive algorithms are proposed for estimating coefficients of A(z), C(z), and the covariance matrix Rw of wk for the multivariate ARMA process A(z)yk = C(z)wk on the basis of the noise-corrupted observations ηk ∆ = yk + ǫk. It is shown that the estimates converge to the true ones under reasonable conditions. An illustrative example is provided, and the simulation ...
متن کاملAuto Regressive Moving Average (ARMA) Modeling Method for Gyro Random Noise Using a Robust Kalman Filter
To solve the problem in which the conventional ARMA modeling methods for gyro random noise require a large number of samples and converge slowly, an ARMA modeling method using a robust Kalman filtering is developed. The ARMA model parameters are employed as state arguments. Unknown time-varying estimators of observation noise are used to achieve the estimated mean and variance of the observatio...
متن کاملKalman Filters and Arma Models
The Kalman filter is the celebrated algorithm giving a recursive solution of the prediction problem for time series. After a quite general formulation of the prediction problem, the contributions of its solution by the great mathematicians Kolmogorov and Wiener are shorthly recalled and it is showed as Kalman filter furnishes the optimal predictor, in the sense of least squares, for processes w...
متن کاملDerivation of the Fast Pole - Zero ( ARMA ) Recursive Least Squares Algorithm Using Geometric Projections
The Fast Pole-Zero (ARMA) Recursive Least Squares Algorithm is derived using geometric projections. The new algorithm has a reduced number of computations compared to the algorithm obtained using matrix methods. In particular two inner products are eliminated. This is particularly important in multiprocessor implementations of the algorithm. The geometric approach provides insight and useful in...
